A bobbed headed Art Deco fashion Illustration I created based on the 1927 building designed by Art Deco skyscraper pioneer Ralph T. Walker. The building was originally called The New York Telephone Building in the Hells Kitchen part of NYC. It was recently restored and renamed Stella Tower named after the original architect’s wife. Prior to the restoration, there was an unusual patch of newer brickwork at the tip of the building from the 1950's when building stylings were moving away from 1920's modernism into mid century modern. After inspecting original blueprints and uncovering the bricked up area, traces of the original “winged crown” were revealed. Because of the beautiful lines of the structure, I rendered the crown from Stella Tower and integrated it to my illustration because, as usual, I love combining buildings and 1920's beauty. Dress is inspired by the Bergdorf Goodman anniversary dress as part of the 111th anniversary collection.
