“What a comfort,” said Mary.“To run a comb and brush through it and I’m done for the day!”- Mary Thurman

The Bob cut, The Inverted Bob, The Page Boy, The Dutch boy The Shingled Bob, The Pringle Shingle, whatever it was called, it was the new craze in women's hairstyles. It was synonymous with silent era actresses like Louise Brookes, Colleen Moore, Mary Thurman, and more recently with fashion Anna Wintour, T-Boz of TLC, Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction. The hairstyle was a shocking act of defiance and independence against the former Edwardian era. It was a sleek and futuristic aesthetic shift as society looked towards the future and all its infinite possibilities.

Antoine de Paris, A polish hairdresser became the world's first celebrity hairdresser and helped spark the daring short bob cut inspired by Joan of Arc. In the 20's he introduced the "Shingle cut" which became popular among flappers, Coco Chanel and Queen Marie of Romania.
